Error Starting Outlook after Installing Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1

Posted in Software by admin on August 31, 2010 No Comments yet

Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1 provides different bug fixes and features that allow you to enhance the reliability and performance of Office applications including of Microsoft Office Outlook. But after you install SR-1, you might observe several issues while using Microsoft Outlook. You might fail to start Outlook and receive an error message. It could occur if personal folder (.pst file) that Outlook uses to store all its data is corrupted. This will require you to restore from the most recent .pst file backup available. At times, you don’t have any valid file backup available. Such situations necessitate that you use PST Recovery applications to repair and restore damaged PST file.

As an instance, when you try to start Microsoft Outlook 2000, you might fail to do so and encounter the below error message on screen:

“DDE server window: outlook.exe-no disk. There is no disk in the drive.”

As an additional symptom, you might find that all the email messages that you had before installing Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1 are missing from your account.

Cause

You might experience the above symptoms if any of the below conditions exists:

Microsoft Outlook uses few log files to store journal information. Offitems.log is the file that contains information about files that you created, opened, saved or closed while Outlook was not running. Outitems.log is responsible for holding information about Outlook items, such as email message, tasks, appointments, notes and others. These binary file are extremely important for Outlook automatic journaling feature. The above error might result if these (Offitems.log and Outitems.log) journal log files are damaged.

Windows includes a file called Msvcrt.dll that is responsible for providing few basic services to Visual C++ compiled applications, like Microsoft Office Outlook. The services provided are memory allocation, comparing strings etc. Outlook might prompt the above error if Msvcrt.dll file is damaged or exists in incorrect version.

Outlook Personal Folder (.pst file) is damaged. PST is the single file storing all email messages, notes, tasks, appointments, journals and other Outlook items. It might get corrupted due to unexpected shutdown, file size limitation (in Outlook 97-2002), application errors and other similar causes.

PST is located on a removable media, which is not available now.

Solution

To fix the ‘DDE Error’, you can use these methods:

Rename the damaged Outlook journal log files. The next time when you will start Outlook, it will recreate these files. To do so, search for Outitems.log and Offitems.log files and rename them to Outitems.old and Offitems.old correspondingly. Restart Outlook after you perform this task.

Verify the version of Msvcrt.dll file. If you find the file in incorrect version, you should replace the file from a suitable system.

Check if the media, on which the PST file is located, is connected to the system. If this is not so, you should try to access the file after connecting the media to the system.

You are recommended to install the latest Windows Service Pack available.

Perform PST Repair for the damaged personal folder. To do so, you should run Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) to fix the corruption issues. You need to locate the tool and specify the file path, which will repair the damaged file. However, you can try to workaround the file damage issues by creating a new PST file and importing all the folders and subfolders from the affected PST file. Before doing so, it is suggested that you backup the .pst file. After this, you can run outlook.exe /cleanpst and open Outlook that will provide you an option to create a new .pst file. You can then use Import and Export option of File menu to import all Outlook data from the damaged PST file. If this doesn’t help and also Inbox Repair Tool cannot repair the damaged file, you should use PST Recovery applications.

PST Recovery tools use powerful scanning algorithms to scan and repair a damaged PST file. Such utilities provide interactive user interface, explicit user-friendly features and comprehensive PST Recovery results.

Stellar Phoenix Outlook PST Repair is an advanced and the most powerful repair product for damaged PST file. The tool supports safe recover PST for files created with Outlook 2007, 2003, 2002 and 2000. It is fully-competent and read-only application that repairs and restores damaged .pst file in all file corruption scenarios. The software is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2003, 2000 and NT. Using the software, you can also recover a lost PST password and split a large PST file into several smaller PST files.

Office Interiors: Decor Does Matter

Posted in business by Owen Malone on August 27, 2010 No Comments yet

For many, offices are supposed to be dull and boring spots to work. They are often painted in neutral tones and quite drab. The focus is on work, not interior decorating. That being said, office interiors actually affect how productive employees are. You can change things around and make the office more inviting to help stimulate enthusiasm and creativity.

One of the first things to consider is the furniture. It should be functional, but comfortable. Employees who are not comfortable will be constantly getting up to go to the bathroom or get water just to stretch and get out the kinks. While comfy furniture costs a bit more, it will actually go right into productivity.

What equipment is available to employees will also have an impact. If it’s not working properly or is too out of date, it will only result in frustrations, which bring the entire office down. People who struggle with their equipment aren’t going to be too motivated to do their jobs.

Apart from the technical aspects of the workplace, there are many other things you can do to change up the office environment. Try painting the walls a different color. Rather than beige, which is plain and boring, try something like light blue or an energizing green. Even furniture can be purchased in various colors, so adopt a theme and let some color and enthusiasm into the office.

Allowing people to personalize their spaces is something that most offices do within reason. It’s actually a great way to enhance productivity. When someone is allowed to have photos of their family on their cubicle wall, it reminds them constantly why they are working. They want to support their family and that can be a great motivation for many.

For many companies, it’s useful to create a positive environment. Hang motivational photos on the wall, make someone employee of the month and feature them. Create positivity and it will come back to you.

The lights can really affect how people work, too. Insufficient lighting will cause headaches and a general mood drop. Fluorescent lights are particularly bad for this, with their buzzing and flickering. Make sure you provide your employees with great lights, and they will work better. Consider using lamps and task lighting where necessary.

Productivity relies on a number of factors. It’s tough to keep them all in mind, but by improving the environment one thing at a time, you’ll see a definite improvement.

Office interiors are hardly ever as good as they could be. You can really change things up with some very simple adjustments. Just painting a new color, making sure your employees are comfortable and letting them make their space their own can really boost productivity levels. These are minor changes, but they really do make a big difference in how the business runs.

Try The Stun Master Stun Baton Designed For Your Personal Security Needs

Posted in security by Mari B Seafree on August 22, 2010 No Comments yet

I have been a security guard for a bank for almost two years now. It gave me enough training in providing protection to customers doing transactions on site as well as bank employees.

We have yet to be victimized by burglary. Having the most reliable personal security gadget has strengthened protection for the bank to the highest level.

Sure, there were robbery attempts and other threats made on our bank, none of which were successful because the culprits could not even get inside the bank.

There was one day a notorious robber attempted to get inside. He was floored before he could even reach the entrance door. Thanks to my Stun Master Stun Baton, I had him bewildered and momentarily paralyzed, which gave me ample time to apprehend him and have him escorted to the police department.

That is how powerful my Stun Master 500,000 Volt Stun Baton is. It comes with a special system that applies electric shock when held six inches from its end when any attempt to take it away is made. The Stun Master Stun Baton is as long as 20 inches, with a rubber handle.

Although I am well trained on self-defense techniques, I use it for personal security as well. I usually get home late from my post so it is useful for my own protection. You should keep yourself protected from danger all day long.

The Stun Master Stun Baton has given me the chance to prove myself worthy as a security guard, enough for me to continue protecting myself and those at the bank. I encourage every security guard out there to have one. It can be quickly ordered online. I lifetime warranty is provided the moment you buy it.

I hear the words “job well done” from my boss all the time. Thanks to my Stun Master stun baton, I can perform my duties perfectly.

Mari B Seafree has been educating people how to use self defense products such as the Stun Master stun baton to defend themselves for years. There are many other options, including stun guns, pepper sprays and personal alarms. He offers complete support and instruction on using the products.

Defend Yourself From Grizzly Bears With Mace Bear Spray

Posted in security by Mari B Seafree on August 17, 2010 No Comments yet

I am fond of camping, particularly in the forest. Just like my father has often reminded me about outdoor safety, I never venture into the outdoors unprepared with self-defense tools against animal attacks such as bears.

The outdoor protector that I arm myself with is a Mace Pepper Spray for bears. I would never dare to camp out without one and it has often spared me from danger.

Endorsed by the Alaska Science and Technology Foundation to camping enthusiasts and by the EPA, the Mace Pepper Spray for bears is the strongest defensive bear spray I have found.

I had an experience while camped out in the woods of stumbling into a hungry bear. It seemed to be hunting for fish in the lake. I got so lucky that I could not move out of fear because it simply passed me by. And I was off to safety before it could attack me.

I had no problem grabbing the chance to flee because I left a burning sensation in its eyes with my Mace Pepper Spray for bears. The force of this spray works 30 feet away. It only took some 5.4 seconds for me to empty it onto the potential attacker.

That was not the last time an event of the sort involved me but my bear spray has always been there for me. My outdoor safety was never compromised even once.

You can rely on the Mace Pepper Spray for bears to have no harmful products in it that can be environmentally dangerous. The formula was concocted specifically for bears, plus it is easy to use.

Mine came with a nylon holster so I can grab a hold of the spray quickly while on the move. What a reliable outdoor safety tool. I suggest you bring one with you every time you explore the great outdoors.

Kazemier C Szulbursk is one of the best known authorities on non-lethal self defense products including protection from bears. You have many options, including Mace pepper sprays for bears, stun guns, pepper sprays and personal alarms. He gives full support and training on using the products.

What Professionals Use to Recover Microsoft Office Passwords

Posted in Software by admin on August 10, 2010 No Comments yet

What Professionals Use to Recover Microsoft Office Passwords

The Microsoft Office Application Suite has dominated the market for many years. The suite offers a complete set of tools for the most demanding computer users, but there is one essential tool missing.

Microsoft Office documents can be protected against unauthorized access and saved with a password. While these documents are surely protected against unauthorized use, what about accessing them legitimately when one forgets or loses the password? This is not a hypothetical question, as many people forget passwords they used just a week ago, let alone a year ago. Even more often, a new employee trying to open Office documents finds out that the passwords are not available.

The one essential tool that is missing from the Microsoft Office suite is a password recovery tool. Microsoft might have had legitimate reasons not to provide such tools, but the problem screams for a solution. Lost passwords can mean just a headache for absent-minded individuals, but can cause serious financial trouble for many organizations.

The demand is there, and the supply has followed. There is no lack of password recovery services and third-party software tools to handle password-protected documents. There are certain pros and cons to both approaches.

Password recovery services can do a great job, providing fast recovery of your lost passwords. But are they worth the price they charge, if you are a home user trying to unlock your year-old CV? And can you trust your corporate documentation to even reputable third parties? If the answer is negative, you are a potential user of dedicated software tools that work off-line on your own computer.

Such software can take longer to recover your passwords, but you won’t pay outrageous prices and you don’t share your trade secrets with a third party. And personal software is really not that slow! Chances are that your password can be recovered in an instant. You’ll be using the same software used by password recovery professionals but on your own computer.

What You Can Use to Recover Microsoft Office Passwords like a Professional

Meet Accent OFFICE Password Recovery (http://passwordrecoverytools.com/), a tool that’s used by password recovery specialists. More importantly, it’s the tool that can recover your password and do it fast:no matter how complex your password was.
Accent OFFICE Password Recovery can easily access many documents. To make a long story short, not all Microsoft Office documents are equally well-protected. Certain versions and certain types of passwords can be broken instantly without the need of long password-crunching routines. How can you tell if your documents fall into this category? Download a free copy of Accent OFFICE Password Recovery from http://passwordrecoverytools.com/ to see if your password can be instantly removed.

What if your document was encrypted with a strong password and cannot be recovered instantly? If so, Accent OFFICE Password Recovery will try different passwords until it finds one that fits. Modern computers are fast, so fast that hundreds of thousands of different passwords can be tried every second. Your typical “123″ password will be cracked in no time!

What if your company policies mandate having longer than normal passwords? In that case, it may take longer. How much longer? That depends on what you remember about the password.

Typical password recovery applications use two methods to guess passwords. The first one to try is always a dictionary attack, which attempts combinations of different words from plain English or other languages. There are not that many words in any language, which allows this attack to attempt all possible combinations quickly. If your password did not contain dictionary words, a password recovery tool will typically use the so-called brute force attack, attempting every possible combination of letters, numbers, and special symbols as a suggested password. This approach can take days or even weeks, if you had a really long password!
Accent OFFICE Password Recovery may solve the puzzle much faster than typical tools by using a third approach. If you remember something ? even a little bit ? about your password, Accent OFFICE Password Recovery can use this information to restrict the number of possible combinations and recover your password much faster than usual. This approach, which is unique to Accent OFFICE Password Recovery, is called masking. You can define the mask used in your password in an easy visual manner. Are you certain that your password started with a capital letter? Define a mask using that restriction, and Accent OFFICE Password Recovery won’t attempt any lower-case characters, making password recovery twice as fast. Did your password end with a number? Add another mask and your time savings are three-fold. Does your corporate policy demand passwords longer than 7 characters? Accent OFFICE Password Recovery won’t try passwords shorter than that, and you gain even more time.
Accent OFFICE Password Recovery provides you with an easy Wizard that helps you create a custom attack on your password, ensuring the fastest turnaround for the most complex passwords.
Accent OFFICE Password Recovery is not your typical “do-it-yourself” tool aimed at the occasional user who forgot a password that happens to be “123″. This product is designed to effectively crunch and solve passwords that are much more complex, and it does it fast. In fact, it can recover many passwords in just seconds! The Help Desk For Website Hosts

Posted in business by Steven Varvarigos on August 7, 2010 No Comments yet

Choosing the web host provider for your website can be a difficult task. There are so many different options to consider. Most people might not even be able to think of all of the different factors that will make them satisfied with their web host. One thing that most might not think of is technical support. If you want to be able to speak with a real person at a help desk then make sure that this is a service your web host provider offers. Many companies have moved away from this and have started using live support chats.

If you ever have problems with your website and need some assistance, it can be very frustrating to go for help and realize that there is not a phone number to call. Some companies have moved to live online support only and have done away with call in help desks. If you are someone that needs to listen to instruction as opposed to reading them on the screen then make sure the host has a phone number.

Some of the programs that are used by web hosting companies are not supported by the company. Even though they offer the software they do not have to help you with it should any errors arise. The host usually wants to remove themselves from any liability of a software causing damage to any of their client’s computers.

The hosts that provide free page makers are often just suggesting the use of the program. The software will not be supported by the hosting company. It is probably a better idea to purchase a web building program so that there is phone support available in case that there are problems with the software.

There will probably not be a lot of documentation for a program that is offered for free. It is better to go with a program that will be supported by a company. Also with purchased programs, it may be easier to find user groups that can assist you.

With newer programs, it can be much simpler to find assistance. There can be entire communities involved in providing assistance to other users. There could also be several tutorial videos on line regarding the software.

When making the decision for the web host to go with, consider the pricing. If it is lower than that of many other companies it may be because they do not have phone support. Those that do want this service may have to pay more a month.

When people need help, it is often the phone that we want to use. Speaking to a live person at a help Desk can give us the sense that a company cares. When people are having to speak to a machine it can get incredibly frustrating. Sometimes, not every thing can be explained in a chat.

Are you in need of some business furniture? If so, then we know exactly where you can get some business office furniture at a great price.
