From LPN to RN Degree without headache

According to a study done by the U.S. Bureau of Health Professions found that by 2020 nursing shortage will grow tremendously. In fact nursing shortages will grow to more than 1.7 million registered nurses by that time. Only less than 635,000 will be available. The U.S. Department predicted that RN as the top occupation in terms of job growth through the year of 2012.

It is much easier to obtain an LPN degree than RN education. This is good for that it provides people who can’t go to a university for 4 years the opportunity to start a nursing career. I must say also an LPN degree has a lot of job limitations for career advancement.

Many LPNs have expressed their willingness to go back to school to become an RN or BSN, but they don’t have the time due to their need for a salary and family obligations. Now these same LPNs can make their dreams come true by pursuing their RN degree online. This is good for working moms and dads.

Online LPN To RN degree programs now make it possible for LPN’s to continue their career while they pursue higher education. Working LPNs can earn an Associate degree in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree online while working at their own pace without disrupting their busy schedules and family obligations. LPNs can set their own hours and attend class in the comfort of their home or work, whenever it is convenient for them. An LPN pursuing an online LPN to RN degree or an LPN to BSN degree can complete virtually 100% of the course work from the privacy and conveniency of their home.

LPN to RN Degree Options:

Associate Degree in Nursing: That degree will allow someone to practice as a registered nurse. A campus based nursing program leading to an associate degree takes 2 to 3 years to complete, and graduates can take the NCLEX-RN exam and receive a license to practice as an RN. The only problem is that more employers are now looking to hire Bachelor of Nursing graduates more than Associate Degree in Nursing. So Associate Degree in Nursing is restricted to how far one can go. LPN to RN programs can take less than 18 months to complete.

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN Degree): Provides the basic level of education to practice as a registered nurse. A campus based BSN program takes 4 years to complete and curriculums contain courses not included in Associate Degree in Nursing programs including courses in leaderships and management, community health nursing, risk reduction, and disease management. Someone can do more with an BSN degree program than Associate degree nurses. Someone can achieve specialty certification with an BSN, and have the educational background that can prepare them for graduate level programs in nursing or healthcare administration.

Court Ordered Paternity Test: No Drama, Just Reasons

Posted in science by Benedict Perez on July 16, 2010 No Comments yet

It seems like it appears in few of some important TV series or movies that most people have seen or heard of whenever issues of paternity spur up. Certainly, most people have seen some movies and TV series or heard in some serious lectures in school but should they be told by a friend or someone who goes through this; they would not be convinced themselves. So they ask themselves, why does court ordered paternity test happen? As always, the reasons at times vary and are complex. However, you could boil down all those reasons up into two components: moral and legal.

Often the reasons are different and complicated but you could sum those reasons up into two categories: moral and legal.

Basically, the DNA is where the traits of an individual can be acknowledged and should it match with an example from a specific person, this only signifies that the two people are genetically related, like a father to his son. There are some people who decide to solve this kind of dispute by conducting paternity tests that are available and could be done at home. Always, this is only to keep both parties at ease through finding out answers to the mystery. The test could be motivated legally by the court, while in some cases, it is quietly done so that other people will not know a thing about it.

Regarding legalities though, there are several reasons which could be inferred. The most common of these reasons is the serving of judgment regarding child support. Most of the time, the court ordered paternity test is appealed by the mother so that her child could get the support that the child deserves. The test will be an instrument for the father to fulfill his obligations to the child despite his negligent nature. The results of the test are precise and conclusive. Most specifically when a third party, that is a laboratory or a clinic, is ordered by the court to do the testing. Hence, the result could not be possibly manipulated.

Another reason for doing such a test would be for resolving some complex legal issues. Like when an individual would like to exercise his or her rights in his biological father’s properties. Though it appears more dramatic, adopted children who are fortunate enough to have found their biological parents could require for this type of test. Also, the state could also require for categorizing the DNA of the people.

Other popular reason for doing such test is for acknowledging a body. Way back years ago, burnt or decaying bodies are only recognized through their dental files. Today, a court ordered paternity test could be done so that it would be a lot easier for the loved ones to know a person who has died from an accident or a tragedy. A common example of when this was utilized was during the 9/11 attack. Several dead bodies were already in decomposition state and the families had to hand in a DNA sample in order to see their sons, daughters, fathers and mothers for the last time.

The more complicated and nuanced it becomes in addressing questions and resolving predicaments and concerns, one could not just explicitly tell that they are watching their favorite movie or television series. The court shall prove to you, the real drama could be done by allowing an independent party look through your genetic semblance.

As a father who wants certainty to father a child with unknown existence, you may want to submit yourself through a court ordered paternity test In this way, you are guaranteed that the child is really yours. Or you may want to try cheap paternity dna testing.

Science Fair Food Projects aE

Posted in science by admin on July 15, 2010 No Comments yet

Why do we all love the science fair food projects so much? I think it is because they are so spectacular and we can see the results very clearly. What I think is important, is looking at it another way. The one about the bread mold can be looked at from two sides. One way of looking at it is the growth of the mold itself, meaning growth. The other side is looking at it from the decay side, mold as part of decay.

I think the bread mold one as the mold growing is the most well known one, but now I want to look at it from the decay side and see mold as part of the decay process. What is the role of mold in the process of decay and how can decay be stopped or slowed down.

So, first what is decay? What is the role of decay in nature? What are the conditions necessary for decay? How can decay be slowed down?

For good science fair food projects we always have to start with a hypothesis, which is saying what we want to prove and what we think the outcome will be. It is not important if your hypothesis is proven right or wrong, as long as you follow the proper scientific method and keep record of everything you do. This is the reason why you have to make meticulous notes of all your steps and preferably also take photos of every step as well as the end result.

So, on to our experiment now:

What you need for your experiment:

  • Three slices of bread
  • Three plastic bags with ties
  • Any kind of antiseptic cream
  • Three tags
  • A pen
  • A knife
  • Rubber gloves
  • A note book
  • A camera

How to do this project:

  1. Remember to make notes of every step of your experiment as you go.
  2. Take photos of all your steps and remember to do it with every step as you go until you get your end result.
  3. Start out by explaining what decay is. Decay is the process where bacteria and fungi, called mold, breaks down organic matter such as dead plants or animals.
  4. Now explain what they need to grow and this will be your hypothesis as this is the first part of what we are going to try and prove with our experiment.
  5. Now explain how decay can be slowed down and how you are going to prove it with this experiment.
  6. Remember to wear your rubber gloves through the whole experiment as you may be allergic to the mould growing on the bread.
  7. Place one slice of ordinary bread in one of the plastic bags, close it with the tie and mark it “A” with one of the tags. This will be your control. (What is a control in a science experiment?)
  8. Slowly toast another slice of toast until it is completely dry and crisp and when it is cold place it and a plastic bag, seal it with the tie and mark the bag “B” with another tag.
  9. Take your last slice of bread and cover the one side with antiseptic cream. Place this slice of bread in your last plastic bag, close it with a tie and mark it “C”
  10. Place all three bags in a warm place and check them every day.
  11. Remember the bacteria and fungi, called moulds, are everywhere and you want to find out what they will do inside your bags.
  12. Keeps this up for a few days recording what you see every day.
  13. What is your result? The toast is dry so there is no moisture for the mould and bacteria to grow on so it should have very little, if any, mould on it.
  14. In the case of the slice of bread covered with the antiseptic cream, the germs have been killed and once again there should not be any mould on it, or at least very little.
  15. Have a look at the ordinary bread. The ordinary slice of bread had lots of moisture for the mould to grow on and it should be covered in mould.
  16. Now you reach your conclusion, this is where you say what happened and what it proves.
  17. Throw away the bread in the plastic bags, do not open them to prevent you from touching the mould and get ill from it.
  18. This is one of our science fair food projects where we explain how decay can be prevented instead of proving what mould needs to grow on as in the usual “Bread Mould” projects.

Science Teacher Resources: Things Many Science Teachers Can’t Live Without

Posted in science by admin on July 14, 2010 No Comments yet

Science teachers have resources that they use all the time for teaching their students and also for educating themselves on certain scientific subjects. A science teacher will often be required to know far more about the subject matter that they are teaching than the students who are being taught. This makes them more effective, by having a complete understanding of their subjects. This also allows them to answer almost any questions that their students may have. These teacher resources are often in the form of books, peers, or websites. There are also scientific products and supplies that they can buy, which come complete with a lesson guide.

These types of teacher resources end up being incredibly useful. In the end it means that the teacher can spend more time on other things, rather than trying to come up with a lesson on their own. These types of ready made science lessons are a wonderful resource for teachers, particularly those teaching physical science or physics. The best part of these science products is that they come with full instructions, not only on how to make the demonstration work, but also include a detailed explanation on how and why it works as well. This type of hand-on science learning provides a great tool for teachers of all grade levels, starting from a very young age. It has been well demonstrated that when learning becomes more interactive, retention levels increase exponentially.

The instructions and explanations that come with these scientific products and supplies simply mean that the teacher won’t have to spend precious time researching the subject for explanations on why each part of the experiment works. Teachers are also free to utilize these demonstrations as they see fit, using as much or as little of that information as they would like to. For example, when dealing with higher grade levels, they can be very detailed and study the phenomena with great detail. Alternately, when teaching younger children, a more simple explanation will do fine.

These types of teacher resources also come in a huge range of complexity and price. You can find experiments and demonstrations that use advanced physics like a Planck’s Constant measuring device, which demonstrates that energy isn’t a matter of intensity, but rather frequency. You can also find much more simple devices like magnets, color wheels and tape measures. No matter what grade or age the children are you are working with, you can find a suitable science product. The visual and hands on science experience often remains with people for years after their education is complete. In fact, if you ask most people about the things they remember from science class, often times it is only the hands-on experiments that they can clearly recall.

Each science classroom will have different needs, depending on the age level of the students and their individual abilities. In using these science products to teach physical science and physics, teachers can adjust the lessons, adapting them as they see fit for their students. A good science teacher will always have a variety of resources available to them, including hands-on science teaching products and supplies. Students will develop a better understanding of physical science and physics through the use of these hands-on science products.

Conscious Dreaming – Wake Up Your Dreams!

Posted in science by Allan Matacan on July 12, 2010 No Comments yet

Conscious dreaming (often called lucid dreaming) is the ability to know that you are dreaming even in the midst of one ” and along with this comes the power to control the dream! When you know youre dreaming, the possibilities are endless.

The power of completely controlling your dreams might seem like something out of a fantasy novel, but it’s actually quite possible for anyone. Lucid dreaming is actually fairly easy, and offers you a wonderful way to express your inner desires and feelings. There are even tried and tested methods to get you into a lucid dream state.

To get there, you’ll have to know what you’d like to achieve. Do you just want to enjoy your dreams in a way you couldn’t before, are are you looking for a way to use your dreams to help you in other areas of life. No matter why you want to learn how to become a conscious dreamer, you should know your goal and be determined enough to get there.

After you’ve discovered why you want to start conscious dreaming, you’ll begin to learn the techniques to get you into the right frame of mind. Lucid dreaming requires a particular mental state. Most people learning how to do this start with dream recall. This is a simple matter of remembering the dreams you’ve had.

If you want to begin conscious dreaming, you’ll need to be able to recall all the details of the dreams you have each night. There are a number of ways to do this, but the most common is keeping a dream diary. Place it by the bed, and every morning, enter all the details you remember from your dreams as soon as you wake up. It’s important to make sure you do this right away, because you start to lose information the longer you’re awake.

This technique will help you to start remembering your dreams very quickly. One you have learned to remember your dreams, it will become easier and easier to become conscious that they are happening. Many people find themselves not long after starting to keep a dream diary awakening in the middle of a dream and starting to take control of it.

Other than keeping dream diary, many find hypnosis helpful. Hypnosis can help you to quickly reach the appropriate state for conscious dreaming. In fact, hypnosis can help you to recall every detail of your dreams in only a few sessions! Conscious dreaming is easy once this is accomplished.

At first, you may discover that you occasionally wake up suddenly during a lucid dream. That’s fairly normal. All you need to do is recall the events of your dream as you fall back to sleep. Try hard to remember them, and you’ll be able to get back into the dream, and even be able to make it do whatever you want it to.

One other method of inducing conscious dreaming is waking up a few hours earlier than you usually do, then trying to get back to sleep. During this period, the dreams you’ll have are a lot easier to stay aware in. You even be unsure about whether you were really asleep, or if you were merely thinking while lying in bed. Do this on a regular basis, and lucid dreaming is a lot more likely.

Remember to pay close attention to your sleeping patterns. That will tell you when the best time is to have dreams of this type. Just remember not to short yourself on sleep too badly, since you’re less likely to have lucid dreams when you’re very tired.

Thankfully, conscious dreaming can be a good remedy for insomnia and other sleep disruptions! Once you develop lucid dreaming, you will be able to put a halt to the thoughts which keep you awake at night.

Many think of lucid dreaming as something which takes years of practice to learn; but in fact, it isnt that hard. It just takes a little practice to become a conscious dreamer.

Conscious dreaming is an ability which everyone has. By practicing these techniques, youll find yourself in control of your dreams in pretty short order; and enjoying all of the benefits of lucid dreams!

Allan Matacan is a writer for the http://www.luciddreaminginfo.com website. You can enjoy the incredible experience of lucid dreaming for yourself and get twenty nine Free conscious dreaming Binaural and hypnosis mp3 audios when you visit here.

Computer Recycling: Why You Shouldn’t Just Throw It Away

Posted in science by Rodd W. Glover on July 11, 2010 No Comments yet

Computers are made up of a number of small and large components. Most of these components are made of materials that can pollute the environment. It is not possible to build computers without these materials, as they are the heart and soul of a computer, defining its performance and efficiency. These materials are safely contained within a computer and hence, as long as the computers are being used in homes and other places, they pose no problem. However, when they are thrown away with the other waste, they may prove toxic and poisonous, affecting the environment at different levels. Computer recycling is therefore necessary to avoid such harmful effects on the environment.

When computers are thrown away, the chemicals and metals present in them can end up significantly polluting the environment. Worse, they can affect us more directly as these chemicals can find their way into our food chains. Lead, mercury, cadmium and other harmful substances are released during a computer disposal. They can cause many diseases and even deformities over the long run. Wastes that end up in the landfills can be washed away and reach the water bodies. Moreover, the chemicals can themselves penetrate through the land and reach the ground water. Such lands will ultimately end up barren as they can no longer be fit for growing crops.

If old computers are simply thrown away in the trash, they will be taken along with all the other garbage to the landfills where they will simply be dumped. As these chemicals don’t really degrade, they will slowly enter into the environment. The first damage they do is to the land – these toxic chemicals seep into the land, rendering it useless to grow crops. However, this is just the beginning. These can be washed down to other areas through rain water and can easily seep into the ground, contaminating ground water. There are hundreds of toxins out there in your computer, so you can imagine the level of pollution they can cause. Once water and land are contaminated, these chemicals easily find their way into our food chains. Thus computer recycling is necessary in order to avoid such a catastrophic scenario.

Apart from direct pollution, there is also the issue of sustainability. A lot of energy goes into the manufacture of these components, right from extracting the materials from the earth’s crust. All this work can be saved if we recycle e-waste. Thus by simple computer recycling, you can actually save tons of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere and reduce your carbon footprint. The materials that are present in old computers are quite similar to the ones used in modern day computers. In addition, the old computers usually have higher quantities of these, and thus a great source of usable materials. This is also beneficial for the companies since they can spend less on the components, thus improving their bottom lines.

Though newer technologies come up every day, the materials that are used in these technologies remain mostly the same. The amount of such materials in old computers is even more compared to the newer ones. Thus throwing them away irresponsibly is a matter of concern. With better computers and computer related products emerging everyday and with people buying more and discarding their old ones, the problem of computer waste will further worsen. Thus consumers, companies and even the governments should realize this and encourage computer recycling. This would lie at the heart of our future sustainable growth and the kind of planet we leave behind for our children.

Rodd H. Glover is an avid outdoors-man who cares about the future of our generations. Computer recycling should be mandatory on all PC’s as well as electronics recycling for everything with precious metals.
